For the longest time I didn’t have success with any network marketing business, and I tried many of them. After so many years of failure I thought my lack of success was because of my shortcomings. I was a hard worker, I was willing to help others, I believed in the products yet success was nowhere to be found. Whatever was needed for success I just didn’t have, and I spent lots of money and time searching for the “magic bullet” or enough personal development that somehow I would finally have “IT”.

 

But what was IT?

 

I think over time my attitude shifted from hopeful to hopeless. I lost my confidence and looking back, I realized that I went into “opportunities” expecting to fail even though I had a dream of something bigger and better.

 

I had an on-line friend that kept encouraging me to read this free e-book. I finally downloaded it but didn’t read it because for one, it’s free and how good could that be? It was probably just a glorified commercial promoting something I didn’t want. And two, it didn’t appeal to me because I thought it had been around a while. I didn’t want to listen to old news, I wanted the latest, greatest breakthrough that was going to get me seen all over the internet.

 

But after some more encouragement I read the book and then re-read it more slowly so I could really listen because what the author was saying really made sense to me. It was finally being revealed to me why I wasn’t having success and Wow – It wasn’t my fault! Just reading that free e-book opened my eyes and changed my attitude. That was the beginning of me finally obtaining “IT”!

 

I like to think of this book and the amazing journey it is taking me on as my ‘white horse”. I was lost without direction and here came my white horse, all I had to do was hop on and he knew exactly where to take me. I haven’t stopped smiling since. It’s been an amazing journey, I know I’m on the right path and I am finally having SUCCESS!

Give To Get – How Does That Work?

Do you ever come across something that is so valuable to you that you just have to share it? Team Building Success Story

Once you have a team member do you know what to do with them? How do you get them trained and keep them motivated? What if they aren’t making money right away? How To Outwit the 6 Ghosts of Fear

Our mastermind group is currently studying Chapter 15 “How to Outwit the 6 Ghosts of Fear” from the book Think & Grow Rich by Napolean Hill.

 

It states that there are 6 Basic Fears that most other fears originate from.

 

1. Fear of Poverty

2. Fear of Criticism

3. Fear of Ill Health

4. Fear of Loss of Love

5. Fear of Old Age

6. Fear of Death

 

For those of us that want to take a really honest look at ourselves Napoleon Hill poses around 68 self–analysis test questions in this chapter to help us identify what might not be so apparent and is keeping us from a prosperous and satisfying life. Usually lack of success in our network marketing career stems from fear of poverty or criticism. Whether we want to admit it or not, some of us may have all six fears to some degree.

 

I think people don’t want to admit they have fears because it might be a sign of weakness when in actuality a lot of fears are just emotions that were unknowingly taken on and engrained in our subconscious mind probably when we were a child. We had no control over that. The way I see it, if you are willing to identify and work on getting past a fear you are a very courageous person and I commend you for that.

 

This chapter really spoke to me because I know personally how the grips of fear can stop us or at least slow us way down. It did for me. Once I finally came to the realization that I wasn’t going to reach my goals while giving into my fears I knew I had to find a way to get past them.

 

It can be done. Hill explains it so thoroughly I couldn’t possibly do it justice. This book has been so helpful. I get more out of it each time I read it. I also love being part of this particular mastermind group because I am always having ah-ha moments and new realizations from other members’ contributions. I also feel a connection with these guys because they are experiencing and overcoming challenges just like I am.

1. They have low self-esteem. They don’t like to talk to strangers, have a sense of “I’m not worthy.”, easily think it’s their fault, always apologizing, don’t accept compliments well, and don’t call their sponsor because they don’t feel worthy of their time. And there is an epidemic of low self-esteem out there.

 

2. They can’t laugh at themselves. Take things too seriously, not relaxed. They analyze things too much and too long.

 

3. They live in the past. Constantly remembering the past instead of embracing the future. Basing the future on what has happened in the past. They don’t accept change – like new technology.

 

 

And I’m going to throw in a fourth reason for good measure.

 

4. They listen to people that don’t have the life or belief that the entrepreneur wants.

 

 

Of course there are many other reasons but I feel these are in the top four. I would like to briefly talk about how these fail factors can be overcome.

 

 

Overcome low self-esteem – It’s all up there between the ears. It is beneficial to learn from your past mistakes and experiences but don’t limit yourself by thinking you ‘can’t” do something because you were never able to before. With your new found self-esteem and confidence the possibilities are limitless.

 

Things are always a changin’ so embrace it. Don’t be afraid to learn new systems and technologies. In today’s competitive business climate, it is necessary. Don’t assume it is too difficult. Don’t seek the opinions and advice on your entrepreneurial aspirations from others that aren’t already doing it successfully. More times than not they don’t have the same mindset that you do. Is Belief In Your Success Gone?

It can be very discouraging if you are not having the success you were told was possible with your home business. You may just want to give up on it and on your dreams that aren’t being realized. Wasn’t this supposed to be easy? After all, you see and hear of so many others that are having great success.

 

Have you already invested so much time and effort and should have seen better results by now? Or maybe you keep searching for the easy fix. You hear about “attraction marketing” and how it is so easy to attract interested prospects to you. Maybe you can just place a few ads or find the magical super-powered tool that will bring them all flocking to you. Maybe they will join your business without even having to talk to anyone.

 

Nevertheless, what you are doing is not working.      

 

And you may have tried this home business stuff many times but are still getting the same lack luster results. That can really hurt your self-confidence and belief in yourself. If so many others are having success what does that say about you? You certainly aren’t dumb but the answer still eludes you.

 

It could be that you are just one little “degree” from success and you just need to forge forward a little further for the results to come. At this point I can not say why you are failing but I do have a pretty good idea. I know that certain things need to be in alignment for you to succeed, and no – it’s not the stars! *chuckle*.

 

For one, you need support. You need support and direction from someone that has been there and done it successfully. After all, would you go to a marriage counselor that had never been married? Stop trying to figure it out alone. You just need the right mentor who will be there for you, understand your needs, and give you the right tools.

 

Secondly, you need to be coachable. We have an easy recipe for success and you know what happens if you don’t follow a recipe correctly. (…and you don’t need to know how to cook!)

 

As for the belief – I will believe in you until you can believe in yourself!

Long-Term Is The Goal 

 

If you want a successful home business it is crucial that you learn to build long-lasting relationships with clients and not have the mentality of “recruit, recruit, recruit because it’s just a numbers game”. You are not going to successfully bring members on to your team and keep them there if you don’t build relationships. People join people – not companies. Yes, you hear about how those “hotshots” build their team without even talking to anyone but I dare say that their retention rate is rock bottom. Isn’t that the whole point of building a team, for the residual income it will create for years to come? That will only come from team members that have made a connection with you and are loyal to you.

 

 

Hone Some Skills 

 

Building this relationship from the start is a skill. I think most of us have this relationship building ability within us, it just has to be honed a bit.

 

 

What’s Your Color? 

 

So how do you build this kind of relationship? As you know, everyone is different with different personalities. To effectively communicate with someone you must first identify what personality or “color” they are (and I don’t mean literally what color they are). Studies show that there are 4 types of personalities. Everyone is primarily one type of personality with a couple of others sprinkled in. Michael Dlouhy’s Color To Success training identifies each personality by the colors yellow, blue, green, and red. Once you can identify someone’s primary color you have learned the first skill in relationship building.

 

 

Ah – So You’re A Green! 

 

Knowing how to respond to each color is the second skill that is necessary. When you learn to quickly identify their color (within 2 to 3 minutes with specific questions, or even by their appearance) you will be able to more effectively communicate and connect with this person. For example, you wouldn’t focus on the money with a yellow and you wouldn’t focus on the fun cruises with a red.  

 

What Did You Hear? 

 

Another important skill you must have when in a conversation with a potential client is being able to LISTEN! Too many times you make it about you and the product. You try too hard to “sell”. Over 90% of the population doesn’t like to be sold. You have to let the prospective client sell themselves or it will never work. When you listen to what they are really saying and know how to respond to them, you are making a genuine connection. They are feeling heard and that is a skill that will take you very far.

Stop the Marketing Madness

If you were like me you found yourself frequently getting overwhelmed trying to figure out how to effectively promote your business, what training to get, and actually implementing what you learned. You also may have run into some snags along the way because you didn’t understand small key parts of the training that weren’t explained well or were left out altogether.


There is so much information to tap into online. I found myself learning all kinds of marketing techniques and just feeling scattered, unfocused, and unproductive. I needed a system that was streamlined and simple. It also needed to be easy to duplicate for my team members.


I found a few systems that had parts of this but it wasn’t free. I first had to be a member of their team and be in their MLM downline before I had access to their training. The marketing information (although weak) was there at a price but the support still wasn’t there. So many times I found that even though they said they would be there for me, they weren’t.


I wanted to find free training that had value and more importantly I wanted to find effective methods that I enjoyed doing. Some of the methods I learned were just not right for me. That was another reason that I didn’t implement a lot of what I learned because I dreaded actually doing it. I didn’t want to look at my marketing as a necessary evil.


I finally found the support and simple system that I was looking for. I’m so glad I found them too because I learned that what I was “saying” in my marketing was actually not “attractive” so it didn’t really matter what marketing methods I used, it wasn’t going to be as effective. Those same mistakes I was taught for so many years is what I see everyone else doing too. I now know why there is over a 90% failure rate in home business start-ups.


They took the time to get to know me and help tailor a marketing plan that was right for me. They kept it simple and the support was there if I needed it. I don’t have to pay them anything, I don’t have to join their company, there’s no “selling” going on, and what I have learned is priceless.
