Remember those “Paint by Number” kits as a child? I used to love those things. I had an easy pattern to follow. All I had to do was paint in the color it told me inside the lines of the picture. When I was done I would have a “beautiful” oil painting of my favorite scenes. I might chuckle today if I saw one of my finished paintings from back then but I actually felt like an artist.

Marketing is a lot like that. Without a blueprint to follow you might feel lost and not know what to put where. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a nice “paint by number” marketing kit to use to know exactly how get from A to Z?

My group is part of a pretty good-size network marketing company.
Our team uses the “Success in 10 Steps” eBook by Michael Dlouhy to find prospects. This is the perfect “paint by number” marketing kit.

In 2009, our team growth was phenomenal.
Our team brought in 62% of the company’s new business
for the month of April.
- 82% of the company’s new business for May.
- 85% of the company’s new business for June.

That trend continues to today and we stay in the top 3 of our company’s growth.

Look. “Success in 10 Steps” is generic. No companies or products are mentioned. No affiliate links are included. The point of the ebook is to find the Warriors in M-L-M, and to help you connect with them.

This is a very effective system. I strongly recommend you download the ebook and see for yourself.

If you haven’t yet downloaded the ebook, here is the link:

Now go make a beautiful piece of art (figuratively speaking)!

Doesn’t that exhaust you just thinking about it? Not to mention the anxiety and frustration that goes along with being rejected by all those no’s just to get one yes from a prospect. And there are plenty of prospects that won’t tell you yes or no and you can spend a lot of time and energy trying to follow up with them. At the end of the day all those no’s make it pretty difficult to stay positive and motivated.

You may have been given a script or training on how to use manipulative language to close the sale. Did you feel comfortable using that script? – I didn’t. If you aren’t seeing the same results your guru upline is having they may tell you “You aren’t talking to enough people.” or “You will get better if you just keep buying more leads.” Maybe they contribute part of your lack of success to the fact that you didn’t make it to the company convention. Maybe your belief just isn’t strong enough.

After some intensive research that spanned over 2 years, Michael Dlouhy, the author of “Success In 10 Steps” figured out what was going on in the MLM industry and it wasn’t pretty. He also discovered what did work. He was lucky enough to seek out an amazing mentor early on. What Michael learned from his mentor and his extensive research propelled him quickly up the ranks to the top of his five pillar company and his team is enjoying the same amazing success today. And I can assure you it doesn’t involve any of the “recruiting” tactics mentioned above.

Michael Dlouhy knew that lots of people could benefit from what he had learned. In fact he felt it was his duty to get this knowledge out to as many people as he could so they wouldn’t be “victimized” any longer. He also knew that this knowledge would be discredited by many “leaders” in the industry because frankly it was exposing many ugly truths. But that didn’t deter Michael.

Michael’s book “Success In 10 Steps” can literally save you years of failure and frustration in multi-level marketing. This is not about getting you into a “deal”. It is about getting you trained so you can think for yourself. You won’t see any affiliate links or manipulative sales jargon here, just the facts. Once you discover the truth, you will never look back.

Now I know you could argue that an entrepreneur is also an opportunity seeker but let me explain the differences from my point of view.

Most Opportunity Seekers come online looking for a quick way to make a buck. They are lured in by the “get rich quick schemes”. They are quick to jump to the next shiny object they see when their current “opportunity” isn’t working out. If it involves work, they quickly “abandon ship”. They keep falling for the hype and spending tons of money with nothing to show for it. They become bitter and jaded and are probably a big reason that “online business” has such a bad name. (Besides the crooks running their schemes)

But…

Real entrepreneurs know that to build a successful business they must make a serious commitment and most assuredly many sacrifices to see their business grow.

Real entrepreneurs set goals to strive for and don’t let distractions get in their way.

Real entrepreneurs know that a positive mindset is crucial and spend time on their personal development.

Real entrepreneurs model themselves after leaders and follow a proven system. Re-inventing the wheel is not recommended (most of the time).

…and successful entrepreneurs know that the rewards are returned to them ten-fold when they give more in “user value” than they ask for in dollars.

I have to admit – I fell for a few “questionable opportunities” in my many years online. I always knew I had entrepreneurial blood flowing in my veins (I’m proud to say).  Once I became seriously committed to my goals, put my blinders on, and found the right mastermind group with a proven system, I can honestly say I am a true entrepreneur!

What about you?

The post below is from my friend and mentor Michael Dlouhy. If anyone knows what it takes to be an effective leader, he does.

“When a great leader falls because of a lack of integrity, it is
very painful for all involved. Tearing another person down to
build yourself up, only leads to a false impression of yourself.

When someone is tearing others down in front of You this is
a guarantee they will do the same to You behind Your back.
Ultimately you will crash and burn from your lack of character.

The question is:

Would You Want This Person As Your Sponsor ?

Life can give us challenges in many areas of our life. How we
handle those challenges ourselves and who helps us, can
determine our success or failure. Loyalty to do the right thing
enters into all decisions. Friendships built on loyalty and trust
are like support beams for a foundation.

A foundation is the beginning. This applies to your marriage,
your friendships, your home and your business. If you build
them correctly, they will sustain you your lifetime. If you
build carelessly everything will crumble around you.

Leaders are built. Day by day, Lesson by lesson. When a
leader chooses to fall, they sacrifice their integrity, their
honor and their character.

If after knowing the facts and fully utilizing their “critical
thinking skills” when someone decides to leave Your Team
please wish them all the best.

Excerpt from “Launching a Leadership Revolution”
Foundational Leadership Quality: Honorable

Integrity can be considered as the condition of “not doing
what’s wrong.” Character can be defined as doing the right
things, for the mere reason that it is the right thing, even if
that thing is difficult and unpopular.

The two sewn together make honor. Author Jeff O’Leary,
in The Centurion Principles, writes, ” ‘Honor’ encompasses
the virtues of integrity and honesty, self-denial, loyalty, and
a servant’s humility to those in authority above as well as a
just and merciful heart to those below.”

Honor is such a rarely used word in our times that it seems
a little old-fashioned. But living a life of integrity and character
is timeless and, for a leader, absolutely necessary. It’s about
choices, and a person’s choices in life follow him to the grave.

Is this to say that a person needs to be perfect to become a
leader? Of course not. Perfection in this life is not possible,
and we, the authors, are certainly not exceptions. However,
a leader must strive continually toward perfection even though
she knows she can never exactly attain it.

It is a question of the heart. The most effective leaders through
out history have led with their hearts, in trust, and with honor.
If a leader cuts corners, misuses people, or misrepresents, the
truth, a time bomb begins ticking. Someday, somewhere, the
bomb will go off. It is obvious in our times only too often: public
figures at the pinnacles of power and fame crash and burn in
the cloud of self-inflicted shame. From political scandals to
high-profile corporate frauds, these calamities are brought
on by a lack of honor in the leadership.

“Human happiness and moral duty are inseparably connected.”

The difference between leaders we revile and those we praise
is their individual level of honor. In fact, honor is the force that
holds a leader’s hunger in check.

Without honor, hunger runs rampant and ultimately serves
only selfish interests. Honor is the component that makes
hunger productive for the leader’s fellow man. In fact, what
we are basically describing here is another “old-fashioned”
word: duty.

George Washington said of duty, “Human happiness and
moral duty are inseparably connected.” So leadership is
spawned by hunger and held in check by honor.

Under that combination, leaders will find happiness in the
fulfillment of their duty to others. It has been said that the
character of a man is the only thing that will walk back
from the grave into the hearts of the people who knew him.

That is the legacy of a leader. The words a leader say and
the walk a leader walks must match. As the saying goes,
“Your word is your worth and your worth is your word.”

Andy Stanley, author of The Next Generation Leader, says,
“To become a leader worth following you must give time and
attention to the inner man.

To leave a legacy that goes beyond accomplishment alone,
a leader must devote himself to matters of the heart.”
Character is developed in the valleys and the peaks of life,
enabling a person to overcome obstacles and deal with
success.

Abraham Lincoln observed, “Nearly all men can handle
adversity, but if you really want to test a man’s character -
give him power.” Character connects a person to what is
right and true.

If reputation is what others think of you, then character is
what God knows about you. This concept of honor is so
important to a leader because people will follow a leader
only as far as they feel they can trust him.

People will not follow a leader they can’t trust. According
to R. Ruth Barton, “We set young leaders up for a fall if
we encourage them to envision what they can do before
they consider the kind of person they should be.

” Warren Bennis tells us, “In the leadership arena,
character counts. I am not saying this casually, of studies,
observations, and interviews with leaders and with the
people near them…. I’ve never seen a person derailed
from [leadership] positions for lack of technical competence.

But I’ve seen lots of people derailed for lack of judgment
and character.” And, as Heraclitus said, “Man’s character
is his fate.” Finally, it should be remembered that a major
component of honor is personal courage.

Without the courage to do what’s right because it’s right,
regardless of ramifications to self, one is not truly worthy
to be called a leader.

When people don’t “Believe” they deserve Success they
will self destruct every time…. This is the reason we tell
everyone we meet to “Participate” in the 30 Day Mental
Cleanse if You want to own Your life.”

For the longest time I didn’t have success with any network marketing business, and I tried many of them. After so many years of failure I thought my lack of success was because of my shortcomings. I was a hard worker, I was willing to help others, I believed in the products yet success was nowhere to be found. Whatever was needed for success I just didn’t have, and I spent lots of money and time searching for the “magic bullet” or enough personal development that somehow I would finally have “IT”.

But what was IT?

I think over time my attitude shifted from hopeful to hopeless. I lost my confidence and looking back, I realized that I went into “opportunities” expecting to fail even though I had a dream of something bigger and better.

I had an on-line friend that kept encouraging me to read this free e-book. I finally downloaded it but didn’t read it because for one, it’s free and how good could that be? It was probably just a glorified commercial promoting something I didn’t want. And two, it didn’t appeal to me because I thought it had been around a while. I didn’t want to listen to old news, I wanted the latest, greatest breakthrough that was going to get me seen all over the internet.

But after some more encouragement I read the book and then re-read it more slowly so I could really listen because what the author was saying really made sense to me. It was finally being revealed to me why I wasn’t having success and Wow – It wasn’t my fault! Just reading that free e-book opened my eyes and changed my attitude. That was the beginning of me finally obtaining “IT”!

I like to think of this book and the amazing journey it is taking me on as my ‘white horse”. I was lost without direction and here came my white horse, all I had to do was hop on and he knew exactly where to take me. I haven’t stopped smiling since. It’s been an amazing journey, I know I’m on the right path and I am finally having SUCCESS!

If your horse appears, will you ride it? I hope so.

YOUR WHITE HORSE

Do you ever come across something that is so valuable to you that you just have to share it? That’s how I feel about this special training that was offered just for our mastermind group at Mentoring for Free. We had the honor of interviewing an international speaker and author Bob Burg. Our group especially connects with his and John David Mann’s newest book Go-Givers Sell More.

We adopt the premise that you can have financial success without “traditional selling” in network marketing. By “traditional selling” I am referring to the type of selling where the salesman tries to pitch you on his deal just to make the sell. It is also true that when you serve others and focus on what you can give rather than what you receive, the financial rewards can be tremendous. Bob Burg is a true believer in this philosophy and the traditional definition of selling is thrown right out the window.

I hope you will really listen to this excellent interview and learn how the Law of Value can really work in your favor.  Jennifer does an excellent job interviewing Bob – I can tell she is a true fan of his work and I am now too.

You can get his book here: http://www.burg.com/gogiver

Once you have a team member do you know what to do with them? How do you get them trained and keep them motivated? What if they aren’t making money right away? Is it going to require all your time and energy? Do you want to spend hours every day training each team member and basically being their main support system?

Sounds a little overwhelming doesn’t it? The thoughts of having those responsibilities can be a little daunting. I think some of us even self-sabotage because of this fear of being overwhelmed or not knowing how to help our team member be successful.

That’s exactly what happened to Juanita. For four frustrating years she struggled to build a team without success. She was stressed with thoughts of “What if I don’t know everything?” or “What if I can’t help them?”

Once she got plugged into the system at Mentoring for Free she now has the skill, confidence and resources to help her team. She knows exactly what to do, where to send them for training, how to get them making money quickly and she doesn’t have to spend hours upon hours every day doing it. Her family is important to her and she has learned to use her time wisely and efficiently as to not take away from her family time.

Something that she dreaded before is now enjoyable and rewarding. She has a hugely successful team that is going strong.

I love to hear success stories like that. Being a member of Mentoring for Free I hear stories like that all the time. I am making my own success story, do you want to finally have your own success story too?

It all starts here.

Our mastermind group is currently studying Chapter 15 “How to Outwit the 6 Ghosts of Fear” from the book Think & Grow Rich by Napolean Hill.

It states that there are 6 Basic Fears that most other fears originate from.

1. Fear of Poverty

2. Fear of Criticism

3. Fear of Ill Health

4. Fear of Loss of Love

5. Fear of Old Age

6. Fear of Death

For those of us that want to take a really honest look at ourselves Napoleon Hill poses around 68 self–analysis test questions in this chapter to help us identify what might not be so apparent and is keeping us from a prosperous and satisfying life. Usually lack of success in our network marketing career stems from fear of poverty or criticism. Whether we want to admit it or not, some of us may have all six fears to some degree.

I think people don’t want to admit they have fears because it might be a sign of weakness when in actuality a lot of fears are just emotions that were unknowingly taken on and engrained in our subconscious mind probably when we were a child. We had no control over that. The way I see it, if you are willing to identify and work on getting past a fear you are a very courageous person and I commend you for that.

This chapter really spoke to me because I know personally how the grips of fear can stop us or at least slow us way down. It did for me. Once I finally came to the realization that I wasn’t going to reach my goals while giving into my fears I knew I had to find a way to get past them.

It can be done. Hill explains it so thoroughly I couldn’t possibly do it justice. This book has been so helpful. I get more out of it each time I read it. I also love being part of this particular mastermind group because I am always having ah-ha moments and new realizations from other members’ contributions. I also feel a connection with these guys because they are experiencing and overcoming challenges just like I am.

You can become a part of this mastermind group also. The rewards are many. To learn more contact me at 828-423-7342 or mentorjill@gmail.com. You will also get your free copy of Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill to learn from.

“You may influence, direct, and eventually control your own

environment, making your life what you want it to be— or, you may neglect

to exercise the privilege which is yours, to make your life to order, thus

casting yourself upon the broad sea of “Circumstance” where you will be

tossed hither and yon, like a chip on the waves of the ocean.” – Napolean Hill

If you want to build a big successful

team in Network Marketing

you don’t need:

1. …a nice car

2. …a nice haircut

3. …a magical easy button (doesn’t exist)

4. …a college degree

5. …salesman skill

6. …spillover

7. …a big social media following

8. …a great childhood

9. …an existing list

10. …more time

But you do need 2 things:

1. Discipline

2. Confidence

If you have these two qualities you have what it takes to be a success. It takes discipline to do the small, consistent daily tasks needed to grow your business and confidence to attract like-minded business builders to you like a magnet.

One more thing, the more ordinary you are, the more you may succeed. When they see that you (an ordinary person just like them) can do it, they know that they can do it too.

Do you have these qualities?

Great!

Let a mentor with a servant’s heart help you find the daily tasks that will work for you and help reinforce that confidence.

Get more information here: http://www.freemlmtruth.com/team

p.s. a decent haircut wouldn’t hurt ;)
